Decoding Your Baby's Cries—all Six of 'em!

The following article from What to Expect
helps me a lot since I have a 3 month old baby boy. I'd like to share this pointers to my fellow mommy bloggers, this can help a lot!

Crying is your baby's only means of communication. Here are some "crib" notes to help you find out what your baby may be saying.

It's too bad babies don't come with instruction manuals. It would make parenting these early weeks a whole lot easier — wouldn't it? Actually, your baby is trying to give you some subliminal clues to help out. Since she can't tell you what she needs with words — "Hey, got a gas bubble over here!" — she relies on an array of whimpers, cries, and all-out screams to get your attention. You just have to crack the crying code to know what she's saying. Here's a cheat sheet to help clue you in:

* I'm hungry: Listen and look for a rhythmic, repetitive cry, combined with other signals such as rooting for the breast or sucking her fingers.

* I'm tired: You'll hear a cry that starts slowly and builds in intensity and is accompanied by yawns or eye-rubs.

* I'm stressed out: Get ready for a fussy, whiny cry; she may try to turn her head or body away from overstimulating sights or sounds.

* I've got colic: You'll likely know it by the intense screams, accompanied by fidgeting movements; often occurs in the late afternoon or evening.

* I'm in pain here: Listen for a loud, intense, out-of-the-ordinary cry that comes on suddenly (at a time or in a way that's unusual for your baby).

* I'm not feeling so well: You'll hear soft whimpers; usually very different from her normal cries.

A lot of trial and error and time with your baby may help you break her particular code (although some infants are quite inconsistent about their cries, thwarting your attempts to read them). Having a repetitive routine can also help. If your baby's day falls into a pattern of feeding, then a period of alert play, followed by sleep, knowing where you are in the cycle can help you determine quickly what your little one needs. If she has a full belly and an empty diaper, she may be ready for a nap or need a cuddle.

How Strong Is Your Relatioship With Your Guy?

I saw this quiz from Annie's Blog. Out of curiosity I took it to check how is my relationship with hubby is going. Well, here's my result....

Your Relationship is Strong

You've built the foundation of a great relationship, and it would take a lot to shake it.

Through good communication and respect, you have a true love that can last a lifetime.

It is still strong as ever! Wow! Being married for 7 years is not easy. We have our own ups and downs like other couples but I am so grateful that after all these years he is still understanding as ever and still truly respecting whatever it is that is running in my mind.

I know and I feel that we will grow old together, we'll be happy to see our kids grow someday, we will still holding each other's hand while walking and we will still love each other no matter what the future is instore for us.

I love you honey! thanks for being with me all these years.

How to remove cough in children

How to stop cough in 5 minutes!!

WOW! How many times i had a cough. How come I never
knew this? I can't wait for my next cough. Amazing!

READ IT ALL. It works 100 percent of the time, although the
scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered it) aren't sure why.

Treatment :
To stop nighttime coughing in a child (or an adult, as we found out personally), put Vicks Vapor Rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. This works 100 percent of the time, and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these findings on the part of their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children, as compared to alternative therapies like acupressure. I just happened to tune in to a.m. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs, so I listened. It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, and in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.. My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks
ago, and it worked 100 percent! She said it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her. The coughing stopped in a few minutes, and believe me this was a deep (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds, uncontrollable cough and she slept cough-free for hours every night she used it. If you have children or grandchildren, pass it on. If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be absolutely amazed by the effect.

To all the mommies out there why dont we give this tip a try.... I hope it'll work for my children and your children too. Thanks to my sister in law for passing this email to me.
